Abstract

Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) is subdivided into two morphological variants - papulosquamous or annular-polycyclic SCLE. A 31-year-old woman presented ill-defined erythematous scaly patches and papules all over her body for 2 years. Before she visited our clinic, skin biopsy was performed twice at other hospitals. She was diagnosed as parapsoriasis. She was treated with systemic corticosteroids and antihistamines without improvement. Result of histopathologic examination from our hospital showed interface changes, periadnexal lymphocytic infiltration and dermal mucin deposition, suggesting lupus erythematosus. Her laboratory findings were positive for anti-nuclear antibody (1:640) and anti-Ro/SS-A antibody (65 IU/mL). She was diagnosed as papulosquamous SCLE and treated with hydroxychloroquine (400 mg/day), colchicine (1.2mg/day). Here we report a case of papulosquamous SCLE with delayed diagnosis.
